Twelve injured in new Russian airstrike on Kyiv
Kyiv
At least 12 people were hurt after a Russian airstrike hit the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, early Thursday. Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed the injuries and said all victims have been taken to hospitals. Among them is a three-year-old child whose condition remains unknown.
Kyiv’s military officials urged citizens to seek shelter immediately after missiles and drones were heard overhead. The Sviatoshynskyi district was the hardest hit, while debris also damaged buildings in Shevchenkivskyi and western Kyiv.
Authorities reported that drones accompanied the missile strike, suggesting it might have been a joint aerial attack. Emergency crews quickly arrived at affected sites to help.
This is the second major missile strike on Kyiv in April. An earlier attack on April 5 left three people wounded. Since the war began, the city has been repeatedly targeted, affecting both military sites and civilian neighborhoods.
Officials are once again reminding people to stay indoors during air raid warnings and avoid outdoor activity when drones or missiles are expected.
While no deaths have been confirmed from this attack, the impact on people’s mental health and city infrastructure continues to grow. Residents live in fear as these strikes have become more frequent.
In a separate incident, nine people were killed and 30 injured in a drone attack on a bus in Marhanets, Dnipropetrovsk region, on Wednesday. Ukrainian officials say the drone struck a bus carrying factory workers. Prosecutors have launched an investigation into the strike.
The war, now entering its third year, continues to draw global concern. The world watches closely as Russia’s attacks on Ukraine intensify and the toll on civilians rises. Russia has not responded publicly to these latest strikes.
