Trump rejects report on Iran nuclear facility damage
Washington
US President Donald Trump has forcefully denied a leaked intelligence report claiming that the recent airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities failed to fully destroy them. Trump called the report “fake news” and defended the mission as “one of the most successful military strikes in history.”
The report, allegedly from the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and revealed by CNN and The New York Times, claimed that Iran’s nuclear program was only delayed by a few months. It also said that Iran had relocated much of its enriched uranium stockpile prior to the attacks.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump slammed both media outlets, saying:
“The nuclear sites in Iran are completely destroyed! Both the Times and CNN are getting slammed by the public.”
Steve Witkoff, Trump’s Special Envoy to the Middle East, said on Fox News that leaking such intelligence was “treasonous” and should be investigated. He asserted that 12 bunker-buster bombs had struck Iran’s Fordow site and caused “total obliteration.”
The White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also rejected the report, calling it “flat-out wrong.” She added that the source was likely a “low-level loser” trying to discredit Trump and undermine the US military.
Leavitt stated:
“Everyone knows what happens when you drop fourteen 30,000-pound bombs perfectly on their targets: total obliteration.”
The Pentagon has yet to issue an independent verification of the damage. The dispute continues amid heightened global concern over nuclear escalation in the region.
