Trump: Elon may get biggest subsidy ever
Washington
Former U.S. President Donald Trump has once again slammed electric vehicle (EV) mandates, targeting Tesla CEO Elon Musk for allegedly receiving massive government subsidies. Posting on Truth Social, Trump claimed Musk could be the biggest beneficiary of subsidies in history and suggested cutting them would save taxpayers billions. He stated, Electric cars are fine, but not everyone should be forced to own one. Trump added that without federal support, Musk’s ventures—including Tesla and SpaceX—might collapse.
Trump also hinted at a possible investigation, writing, Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard look at this? BIG MONEY TO BE SAVED!
Despite Musk having previously endorsed Trump for president, tensions between the two have grown, especially over EV policies and tax reforms. Musk has been vocal in his criticism of Trump’s recent legislative efforts, especially a new Republican-backed bill. Musk called the bill political suicide and warned it would destroy jobs and harm the U.S. economy.
He also labeled the bill a disgusting abomination and criticized those who supported it, accusing them of damaging the country’s future. Senate Republicans recently advanced the massive legislation, despite pushback from some GOP senators over its economic impact.
Their feud has intensified in recent years, with Musk even calling for Trump’s impeachment and accusing him of being tied to controversial figures. While both men continue to shape political and business debates in the U.S., their relationship appears increasingly strained over differing views on governance, climate policy, and federal spending.
