US President Donald Trump on Saturday called the ongoing trial against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a "political witch hunt" and urged for its immediate cancellation.

Netanyahu is currently facing three corruption cases involving bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. He denies all accusations, calling them "fake."

Trump shared his concerns on Truth Social, saying Netanyahu is forced to spend time in court while also trying to secure a hostage deal with Hamas. Trump described Netanyahu as a "war hero" and praised his efforts in countering Iran's nuclear threat.

"It is terrible what they are doing to Bibi Netanyahu. He is negotiating a deal with Hamas to get hostages back. How can he sit in court all day over nothing like cigars or a Bugs Bunny doll? It is a POLITICAL WITCH HUNT," Trump wrote.

Trump also warned that the trial could interfere with crucial negotiations with Iran and Hamas. He stressed that the US spends billions of dollars each year to support Israel and said America "will not stand for this."

Netanyahu’s trial began in May 2020, making him the first Israeli Prime Minister to stand as a criminal defendant while in office. Under Israeli law, he does not have to step down unless found guilty by the Supreme Court.

Additionally, the International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants against Netanyahu, accusing him of war crimes and crimes against humanity related to actions in Gaza.

Trump argued the charges are politically motivated and said the US would help "save" Netanyahu, calling the case a "horror show."

Netanyahu's legal battle continues as he leads Israel through tough regional negotiations.
