Trump blames democrats for Iran strike report leak
Washington
U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday accused the Democratic Party of leaking a secret intelligence report that questioned the success of recent U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. Posting on Truth Social, Trump claimed Democrats leaked details about what he called the “PERFECT FLIGHT” targeting Iran’s nuclear sites, and demanded legal action.
The controversy began after CNN and The New York Times reported a leaked Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) assessment. The report suggested that while U.S. strikes did damage Iranian nuclear sites, they only delayed the program by a few months. It also said much of Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile had been moved before the attack.
Trump dismissed these findings, calling them “fake news” and insisting that the strikes had “completely destroyed” Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. “One of the most successful military strikes in history,” he declared.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt condemned the leak, calling it a crime. She said only a few officials had access to the report and promised to investigate and strengthen protections for classified material.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe also weighed in, backing the White House position. He said credible intelligence showed severe damage to Iran’s nuclear sites that would take years to rebuild. Though he did not confirm if this reflected an official CIA conclusion, his statement supported Trump’s claims.
The leaked DIA report, however, paints a less optimistic picture, highlighting internal disagreements among U.S. agencies over the true impact of the airstrikes. The fallout continues as both intelligence credibility and political tensions over national security remain in sharp focus.
