Sikyong Penpa Tsering of the Central Tibetan Administration was warmly welcomed to London by Representative Tsering Yangkyi, Secretary Tenzin Kunga, and members of the UK Tibetan community, according to the CTA.

He later visited the London School of Economics (LSE) to speak with Tibetan youth, stressing Tibet’s global importance. He highlighted Tibet’s strategic position in Asia, its environmental significance as the Roof of the World, and its rich heritage rooted in non-violence and compassion.

Tibet matters not only to Tibetans but to the world, Sikyong said, urging youth to learn Tibet’s history—especially its past independence—to better support the Tibetan cause and the Middle Way Approach for peaceful resolution with China.

On Sino-Tibetan relations, he acknowledged informal back-channel talks with China, stressing that lasting peace requires dialogue.

He credited the 14th Dalai Lama for keeping the Tibetan issue alive globally and encouraged Tibetans in exile to continue lobbying.

Sikyong also cautioned against blind engagement with China, citing its rigid ideology and human rights abuses. He called for strategic competition rather than naive cooperation to preserve Tibetan identity, values, and democratic practices in exile.
