Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Mauritius National Day celebrations as the Chief Guest, strengthening the ties between India and Mauritius. At a special lunch hosted by President Dharambeer Gokhool, PM Modi expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality and emphasized the strong, enduring relationship between the two nations.

“It is my privilege to be here for the National Day celebrations,” said PM Modi, highlighting the deep-rooted connections between India and Mauritius. He described the Mauritian platter as a symbol of the shared heritage between the countries, reflecting their cultural ties.

PM Modi extended his best wishes to President Gokhool and his wife, Brinda Gokhool, wishing them good health and prosperity, while reaffirming India’s commitment to its relationship with Mauritius.

Earlier, despite heavy rain, the Indian Navy participated in a full dress rehearsal at Champ de Mars ahead of the National Day parade. A member of the Indian contingent expressed pride in representing India at the event, looking forward to the march past.

During its visit to Mauritius from March 10-14, the Indian Navy’s INS Imphal will engage in various bilateral activities, including training, cultural exchanges, and joint naval exercises with the Mauritius Coast Guard to bolster maritime security cooperation.
