President Ramchandra Paudel has officially summoned the next session of the federal Parliament. The budget session will begin on April 25 at 1 p.m., as announced by the Office of the President on Wednesday. This decision follows a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday that recommended the session be called.

The session has been summoned under Article 93 (1) of the Constitution. One of the main reasons behind this early session is the urgent need to pass the School Education Bill. The bill has gained importance due to strong pressure from teachers across the country.

Thousands of teachers have been protesting in Kathmandu for the past two weeks. They are demanding that the government pass the bill and ensure fair treatment for educators. One of their main demands is to receive benefits equal to those given to civil servants.

In a video message, Education Minister Bidya Bhattarai stated that the government has taken the teachers’ protests seriously. She explained that this urgency was one of the reasons the Cabinet pushed for the early session.

The upcoming session is expected to focus on education reforms and address teachers’ concerns. Lawmakers will also discuss budget plans and other national issues during this meeting. The government hopes that passing the School Education Bill will help end the ongoing protests.
