As Guyana’s President Irfaan Ali inaugurated Phase I of the Ogle to Eccles section of the East Coast-East Bank road project, India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar extended greetings on behalf of the Indian government and people. In a video message, he praised the project as a symbol of the deep friendship between India and Guyana, highlighting how it will improve connectivity and reduce travel time.

Jaishankar commended Indian companies Ride and Ashoka Buildcon for completing the project and said it reflects both the aspirations of the Guyanese people and the visionary leadership of President Ali. He emphasized that India and Guyana share a special bond, rooted in common values, history, and the belief in Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam — the world is one family.

Recalling his 2024 visit to Guyana, Jaishankar said he experienced firsthand the warmth between the two nations. He added that India is proud to contribute to Guyana’s growth and is happy to share its development experience as a fellow democracy.

He also praised the project’s people-centric and forward-looking nature, noting that both countries are witnessing rapid development and infrastructure growth. The new road, he said, marks another milestone in the ever-growing partnership between the two nations and sets the stage for stronger economic and developmental cooperation in the future.
