Israel says top Iranian general was killed
Tel Aviv
Israel has announced that its military killed a top Iranian general, Major General Ali Shadmani, in an overnight airstrike in Tehran. Shadmani was a close aide to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and served as Iran's wartime Chief of Staff.
According to the Israel Defence Forces (IDF), fighter jets struck a command center in central Tehran after receiving accurate intelligence. The strike was part of Israel’s ongoing campaign to weaken Iran’s military leadership.
The IDF said Shadmani led the powerful Khatem al-Anbiya Emergency Command and had major control over Iran’s armed forces, including the Revolutionary Guards. He reportedly helped approve Iran’s missile attacks aimed at Israel. Before this role, Shadmani served in various senior positions, including deputy commander and operations chief.
This is the second senior Iranian military official Israel has killed in recent days. Shadmani replaced General Gholam Ali Rashid, who was also killed by Israel in “Operation Rising Lion,” a targeted strike campaign launched to stop what Israel says is a growing threat from Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
The IDF added that last night, Israeli jets also destroyed dozens of missile storage and launch sites, UAV facilities, and air defense launchers in western Iran. These strikes are part of ongoing efforts to weaken Iran’s ability to launch attacks.
The Iran-Israel conflict has now entered its fifth day. Iran continues to fire missiles at Israel, triggering sirens across cities like Haifa and the Golan Heights. Both sides remain on high alert as tensions increase with no sign of a ceasefire.
