INS Sunayna, part of the Indian Ocean Ship (IOS) SAGAR initiative, left Nacala, Mozambique, on Monday for Port Louis, Mauritius, after a successful three-day port visit. The ship’s crew includes 44 personnel from nine countries, demonstrating the collaborative spirit of the SAGAR mission aimed at promoting security and growth in the Indian Ocean Region.

Before arriving in Mauritius, INS Sunayna will collaborate with Mozambican authorities on Joint Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) Surveillance. The deployment highlights the Indian Navy's commitment to enhancing maritime security and strengthening partnerships with nations in the region.

This visit is a significant milestone, reinforcing India’s commitment to maritime cooperation and regional security. Earlier in April, the ship embarked from Goa with naval personnel from Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Sri Lanka, and South Africa.

The deployment emphasizes India’s role in fostering stable, peaceful maritime relations in the region, supporting the vision of the SAGAR initiative. It also underscores the importance of multilateral cooperation in ensuring the prosperity of the Indian Ocean.
