Indian student killed by stray bullet in Canada

Harsimrat Randhawa, a 21-year-old Indian student studying at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario, was tragically killed after being hit by a stray bullet during a shooting. The incident happened around 7:30 pm on Thursday while she waited at a bus stop on her way to work.
The Consulate General of India in Toronto confirmed her death, calling her an "innocent victim." The Consulate also said it is helping her family and extended heartfelt condolences.
According to police, the shooting involved two vehicles near Upper James Street and South Bend Road. Shots were fired from a black Mercedes SUV at people in a white sedan. The white car fled north while the SUV escaped west. Harsimrat was caught in the crossfire and shot in the chest. She was taken to a hospital, but doctors could not save her.
The shooting also endangered residents nearby. A bullet entered a home where people were watching TV, but no one inside was hurt.
Police have launched a homicide investigation. They are asking for anyone with video footage between 7:15 pm and 7:45 pm in the area to come forward.
Mohawk College mourned the loss, saying, “We will support Harsimrat’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
This heartbreaking incident has shaken the community and sparked calls for justice.
