Indian Navy joins Mauritius National Day parade

The Indian Navy participated in Mauritius’s 57th National Day celebrations, showcasing the deep friendship between the two nations. A marching contingent, a naval band, and two MH-60R helicopters from INS Imphal took part in the parade, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending as Chief Guest.
This participation highlights the strong historical and cultural ties between India and Mauritius. Their shared commitment to SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) reinforces their strategic partnership, promoting regional stability and cooperation.
The Indian Navy’s INS Imphal played a key role in the celebrations, arriving in Port Louis on March 10. The warship was warmly welcomed and opened to the public for tours. Its crew engaged in training exercises, cultural programs, and friendly sports matches, strengthening military and diplomatic ties. A joint surveillance and maritime exercise with the Mauritius Coast Guard is also planned.
During the National Day Parade, PM Modi saluted the Indian Navy contingent as they marched past, holding the tricolor. A naval flypast featuring MH-60R helicopters further honored the occasion. Thousands watched as the parade showcased India’s commitment to its long-standing relationship with Mauritius.
Captain Kamal Kumar Choudhury expressed pride in representing India, emphasizing the tradition of Indian warships participating in these celebrations. He reaffirmed India’s dedication to regional security and cooperation, underscoring the strong naval and diplomatic relationship between both nations.
The visit of INS Imphal, lasting until March 14, symbolizes India’s enduring support for Mauritius and its commitment to maritime security in the Indian Ocean.
