Three Indian naval ships — INS Mysore, INS Kiltan, and INS Shakti were warmly welcomed by the Philippine Navy as they arrived on late Tuesday. The visit is part of India’s efforts to strengthen maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Philippine Navy shared the greeting on social media, saying, “Welcome aboard,” highlighting the close friendship between the two nations.

This deployment supports India’s maritime vision called MAHASAGAR — Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions. It also shows India’s growing role as a trusted regional partner.

Defence cooperation between India and the Philippines continues to grow, with frequent visits by Indian Navy and Coast Guard ships. In 2024 alone, ships like INS Delhi, INS Shakti, and ICG Samudra Paheredar visited Manila. These exchanges build strong defence and people-to-people ties.

The latest visit follows the first India-Philippines Track-1 Maritime Dialogue, held in December 2024 in Manila. Both sides discussed maritime security and future cooperation.

Before arriving in the Philippines, the Indian Navy ships made a port call in Vietnam, marking another step in strengthening the India-Vietnam strategic partnership.

During this Philippine visit, sailors from both navies will take part in joint planning, training, and friendly activities like sports and cultural exchanges. These efforts aim to increase interoperability and promote a rules-based maritime order.

India’s navy continues its operational deployment to Southeast Asia, showcasing its commitment to peace, stability, and regional partnerships in the Indo-Pacific.
