Pratik Mathur, the Consul General of India in Shanghai, attended the graduation ceremony at FUDAN University for BRICS students on Thursday. He met with Indian students Rahil Ayoub Thakur from Kashmir and Harshit Bhardwaj from Delhi, praising their achievements.

The Consulate General shared on social media that the event showcased how young minds from India are shaping the future of the Global South. BRICS now includes 11 member countries — Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Iran. Vietnam was also recently added as the tenth BRICS partner country.

Brazil currently chairs BRICS for 2025 and is focusing on expanding international partnerships.

Earlier, on July 26, the Indian Consulate in Shanghai launched the “India Impressions” film festival. The first screening featured Hellaro, a National Award-winning Gujarati film. A large audience attended the event, including Chinese nationals, diplomats, and members of the Indian community.

The film told a strong story about women fighting for freedom in a traditional society. Viewers appreciated its emotional storytelling, colorful visuals, and cultural themes.

The festival aims to share the richness of Indian cinema with Chinese audiences and deepen cultural ties between the two nations.

Consul General Mathur highlighted in his speech that cinema plays a powerful role in bringing cultures together. The high turnout and interest in Hellaro showed that Indian stories resonate well with people in Shanghai, helping foster friendship and understanding between India and China.
