India showcased advanced technologies developed by ISRO and CSIR during an exhibition held alongside the Global Biodiversity Alliance Summit in Guyana’s capital on Thursday. The event was organised by the Indian High Commission in Georgetown with support from the Government of Guyana.

The display included innovations in climate adaptation, agriculture, resource mapping, and environmental sciences. It highlighted India's growing collaboration with Guyana and other CARICOM nations in science and technology. According to the High Commission, this event aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of deepening partnerships with countries in the Global South, particularly in sustainable development and space-based innovation.

The ISRO delegation attending the summit includes key scientists: G. Srinivasa Rao from the National Remote Sensing Centre, G.S. Pujar from the Earth Observation and Disaster Management Programme Office, and Sudhakar Reddy Chintala, Head of Forest Biodiversity and Ecology Division at NRSC.

The High Commission said that the exhibition represents a step forward in India's multifaceted partnership with CARICOM nations. During PM Modi’s visit to Guyana in November 2024, he had addressed the 2nd India-CARICOM Summit and outlined a long-term vision of collaboration in space technology, environmental sustainability, and disaster management.

This exhibition and visit are meant to strengthen bilateral cooperation between India and Guyana in biodiversity protection and the use of satellite-based tools for managing climate change impacts. The presence of top ISRO scientists underlines India’s commitment to using its technological strengths to support shared global goals in biodiversity and climate resilience.
