Fiji’s Deputy Prime Minister, Biman Prasad, visited the Indian High Commission in Suva on Monday to sign the condolence book for the late former Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh.
Prasad expressed his sorrow, calling Singh a "great leader" whose leadership and contributions would be greatly missed. "With deep sadness, I signed the condolence book at the High Commission of India in Suva, mourning the loss of Dr. Manmohan Singh," Prasad wrote on social media.
Singh, who passed away on December 26 at the age of 92 due to age-related health issues, was cremated with full state honors in Delhi. Key political figures, including President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi, paid their respects at the ceremony.
Singh’s tenure as Prime Minister (2004-2014) was marked by economic reforms and steady leadership during times of crisis. He also served as India’s Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, where he played a pivotal role in transforming India’s economy.
