Egyptian, Iranian, Italian FMs discuss Gaza ceasefire

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held separate phone talks with his Iranian and Italian counterparts on Friday to discuss the recent ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of implementing the deal without delay, stressing the need for urgent and sustainable access to relief and medical aid for Gaza. He also highlighted the role the international community must play in reconstructing Gaza and restoring stability.
During his conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Abdelatty praised Egypt’s pivotal role in achieving the ceasefire and discussed regional developments, including tensions in the Red Sea. He expressed hope that the ceasefire would lead to greater stability in the region and safeguard international traffic.
In talks with Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s mediation efforts in coordination with Qatar and the United States. Tajani welcomed the ceasefire and acknowledged Egypt’s efforts in securing the truce agreement.
The long-awaited ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel was brokered in Doha on Wednesday. In a separate development, UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi met to discuss bilateral relations and regional issues, including the ceasefire and ensuring humanitarian aid reaches Gaza.
