Cambodian King praises PM Hun Manet
Phnom Penh
Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni praised Prime Minister Hun Manet for his strong leadership, emphasizing policies that have driven economic growth and ensured social stability. The King’s remarks came during the inauguration of the Great Supreme Patriarch Chuon Nath’s residence at Phnom Penh's Unnalom Pagoda.
King Sihamoni lauded Hun Manet for his wisdom in crafting policies that have bolstered Cambodia’s economic performance. Hun Manet, who became Prime Minister in August 2023, succeeded his father, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who now serves as Senate President. Under his leadership, Cambodia's economy grew by 6% in 2024 and is projected to expand by 6.3% in 2025, bringing the nation's GDP to approximately $51.4 billion.
The King also expressed appreciation for the significant contributions of Hun Sen, calling him a "wise and brilliant founder" for revitalizing Buddhism and Buddhist pagodas, which have played a crucial role in promoting social peace and stability. These efforts have helped Cambodia maintain a harmonious society, following the national motto: "Nation, Religion, King."
As a predominantly Buddhist nation, Cambodia boasts more than 5,000 pagodas and over 70,000 monks. The King highlighted how these institutions foster morality and virtue, ensuring the religious and social cohesion of the country.
Hun Manet’s leadership continues to receive positive recognition for driving Cambodia’s growth while preserving the nation’s deep cultural and religious values.
