Arab states denounce Damascus suicide attack

Qatar, Saudi, Israel condemn attack; urge unity against terrorism, support Syria

Several Arab nations, including Kuwait, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, strongly condemned the deadly suicide bombing at Mar Elias (St. Elias) Orthodox Church in Damascus, Syria, on Sunday evening. The attack, which occurred during Mass in the Christian-majority Dweilaa neighborhood, left at least 22 people dead and 63 injured. Syrian authorities said two attackers opened fire on worshippers and detonated explosive belts at the church entrance.

Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the terrorist attack and reaffirmed its rejection of violence and terrorism in all forms. It extended condolences to the Syrian government, people, and victims’ families, while wishing a quick recovery to those injured.

The UAE also strongly condemned the bombing, emphasizing its consistent stand against terrorism and offering deep condolences and support to Syria and the affected families.

Qatar's Foreign Ministry expressed outrage over the attack, reaffirming its firm stance against violence, terrorism, and the targeting of worship places. It voiced full support for Syria in maintaining security and stability.

Saudi Arabia joined in condemning the attack, stating its rejection of violence, extremism, and the targeting of civilians and religious sites. The kingdom also expressed solidarity with Syria in facing such threats.

Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar also condemned the attack, describing it as a cowardly terrorist act and extended condolences to the victims' families and the Christian community in Syria.

All statements emphasized the need for unity against terrorism and support for protecting innocent lives and places of worship.
