Six people were killed and seven others injured when the roof of a house collapsed after an explosion at a fireworks warehouse in Punjab’s Mandi Bahauddin on Saturday.

Rescue 1122's District Emergency Officer Imran Khan confirmed that the blast was caused by a short circuit while two people were making fireworks on the first floor of the house.

The deceased included a man, three women, and two girls. Four of the victims were in the house where the explosion occurred, one woman was in an adjacent house, and another victim was a pedestrian.

Police Station House Officer Mohammad Akram Hanjan stated that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

The seven injured, including four men and three women, are reportedly in stable condition, according to officials. The fireworks material stored in the house weighed approximately 12 to 15 kilograms.

This incident follows similar deadly accidents in Pakistan. In October, seven people died in Multan due to a fireworks-related roof collapse. Earlier in April, two workers were killed when a factory fire broke out in Faisalabad.

Authorities have repeatedly warned about the dangers of unregulated fireworks storage and manufacturing.
