A tragic road accident in Baghlan province, northern Afghanistan, has left two people dead and three others injured. According to a statement from the provincial police, the accident occurred on Friday evening when a vehicle collided with a car in Baghlan-e-Markazi district. The impact killed two commuters on the spot, while three others sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Road accidents are common in Afghanistan, largely due to poor road conditions, reckless driving, difficult terrain, and speeding. Just last month, a similar crash in Parwan province resulted in two fatalities and three injuries, with the vehicle plunging into a ravine.

In another incident, two separate crashes in Ghazni province led to 44 deaths and 76 injuries. In December, two accidents in Jawzjan and Zabul provinces also claimed the lives of five people and injured several others. Police have consistently cited reckless driving as the leading cause of these tragedies, with overcrowded and congested roads further increasing the risks for commuters.
