Yoga is the most ancient health discipline of India: Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa

Among the ancient health practices and disciplines of India, yoga is one of the most prominent, and it is indeed India’s oldest health regimen, said Social Welfare Minister and Mysuru District In-charge Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa.

 

He was speaking after inaugurating the 11th International Yoga Day 2025, organized today at the Mysore Palace premises by the Government of India, Government of Karnataka, Mysuru District Administration, Zilla Panchayat Mysuru, and the AYUSH Department here on Saturday.

 

The minister said Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice, and it has created public awareness about the balance and control of body and emotions. A person can lead a healthier life by practicing yoga daily.

 

As part of the International Yoga Day celebration, 4 minutes of loosening exercises, 25 minutes of yoga asanas, and 14 minutes of pranayama, meditation, and resolution (sankalpa) were performed. More than 15,000 people, including students, participated in the event.

 

Member of Parliament from Mysuru-Kodagu constituency Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, MLA of Krishnaraja constituency T.S. Srivatsa, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy, Zilla Panchayat CEO Yukesh Kumar, Mysuru City Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, District Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhan, Additional DC Dr. P. Shivaraju, AYUSH Department officer Dr. Renuka Devi, and several others were present.
