Work to make civic jobs permanent underway: CM

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said that work is underway to make the services of all civic workers permanent.
He spoke after inaugurating a multi-storey art hall with modern facilities in Tilakwadi on Sunday, which was newly built under the Smart City grant. Contract employees have already been brought under the minimum wage. It was our government that did this, now it is our government that will make it permanent.
He said that 150 programmes have been taken up under the Smart City project, out of which 102 have been completed. The rest will be completed soon.
He said that work worth Rs 6928 crore is being done under the Smart City project. He said that our government is continuously formulating and implementing plans and programs for the comprehensive development of Belgaum.
Urban Development Minister Byarati Suresh said that a state-of-the-art art hall and a commercial mall have been set up under the Smart City project in partnership with the state and the central government. He said that this is the first well-equipped commercial complex in North Karnataka.
The Chief Minister has taken the initiative to provide commercial complexes, bus stands and other infrastructure facilities everywhere in the state. He said that the public should make good use of these facilities, the Minister said.
Ministers Satish Jarkiholi, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Cheluvanarayanaswamy, MLAs Asif Seth, Ashok Pattana and others were present.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah assured that action will be taken to examine the file to provide more compensation so that more land acquisition compensation can be provided in relation to the Halaga STP work.
He said that a total of Rs 6928 crore has been released for the Smart City project in the state, of which Rs 3500 crore is the state's share.
