Woman commits suicide after harassment by uncle
Bengaluru
A 24-year-old woman from Bengaluru, Suhasi S Singh, has reportedly ended her life after persistent harassment by her uncle, Praveen Singh, who allegedly threatened to release her private videos and photos. Suhasi, who worked for a leading IT company in the city, was found dead after an incident on January 12.
According to police, Suhasi met Praveen, a 42-year-old insurance agent, at a hotel near Kundalhalli Metro Station to discuss their issues. Police suspect Suhasi brought petrol with her to the meeting, intending to set herself on fire. Despite Praveen's attempts to save her, Suhasi succumbed to her injuries at Victoria Hospital. Praveen, who tried to intervene, sustained minor burns.
Police are investigating the nature of their relationship and the harassment Suhasi faced. It is believed that she had been enduring constant pressure from Praveen after starting a relationship with someone else. Her parents were unaware of the situation until a friend, Navnath Patil, informed them about the harassment. No private videos or photographs were found on Praveen's phone during the initial investigation, though the police have seized his devices for further examination.
