HAVERI

Eminent progressives are withdrawing from the 86th All India Kannada Sahitya Sammelana. In this context, I will also not be attending the brief session of the Sahitya Sammelana, said KC Akshata, a gender minority.

Speaking to media persons, Akshata said that the sahitya sammelan should have been a platform for harmony. But he alleged that the forum of the conference was being built in favour of a system. I will stay out of the conference which is in favour of one party's ideology.

A conference in favour of oppressed, Ahinda activists and farmers will be held in Haveri in the coming days by a coalition of like-minded people. I condemn the allegations made by Mahesh Joshi, the state president of The Sahitya Parishat, against Purushottam Bilimale, who has proclaimed the identity of the state. There was a tradition for the Sahitya Sammelana. However, the Sahitya Sammelan to be held from January 6 to 8 is a tragic conference, he said.

Speaking on the occasion, DYFI State Secretary Basavaraj Poojar expressed his anger against the State President. The allegations levelled against Purushottam Bilimale by Sahitya Parishat State President Mahesh Joshi should be proved. If they prove the charges, we will stand against Bilimale. If he is unable to prove it, then Mahesh Joshi should apologise to the people of the state. He alleged that Mahesh Joshi, the State President of the Sahitya Parishat, had tarnished the post of President  by levelling allegations against Professor Bilimale.
