Former MP Sanganna Karadi announced his intention to contest elections from any constituency within the district for the upcoming 2028 assembly elections.

During his visit to the mango mela, he stated that the Congress leadership would select the candidate for the ticket after the by-election for the Gangavathi assembly seat is declared. However, he chose not to comment on the possibility of running from that constituency at the moment.

After feeling overlooked by the BJP for a Lok Sabha ticket, Karadi joined the Congress party and was without a position for the past year.

According to Congress sources, he is interested in Gangavathi constituency, which will soon be open due to the disqualification of Gali Janardhana Reddy in a mining case.

In response to questions, Sanganna Karadi avoided a direct reply, saying, the decision about my candidacy will be made by district Minister Shivaraj Tangadagi and Koppal MLA K Raghavendra Hitnal. He pointed out that the party's top leaders would choose who will be awarded the ticket, hinting at his own aspirations.
