Wild elephant menace shocks locals near homes
HASSAN
Heavy rains have been continuously pouring in the Malnad region of the district for the past few days, disrupting normal life. Meanwhile, the threat of wild elephants has also continued. Despite the rain, the giant wild elephant Bhima has once again come near a house in search of food in Udewara village of Sakleshpur taluk, disturbing the sleep of the villagers.
The Basavaraj family members, seeing the wild elephants approaching the house, screamed in fear from inside the window. Immediately, Bhima slowly walked back towards the forest with Mariane. The video of this was captured by those in the house on their mobile phones.
Sakleshpur Zonal Forest Officer Hemanth and ETF personnel visited Basavaraj's house in Dinekere village after learning about the sighting of the wild elephant. The RFO informed that the ETF personnel are monitoring the movement of the wild elephant.
Just before the incident of a woman named Chandramma being attacked by wild elephants in Belur taluk, a herd of wild elephants has been spotted again in Hosur village of the taluk. This herd consists of six wild elephants, including three cubs and three females. The presence of cubs increases the possibility of people attacking them.
Later, wild elephants that left Hosur village were seen in Hirivate village. Some of the elephants have already been captured and sent to the breeding camps in Chamarajanagar and Madikeri. However, the threat of wild elephants in the district has not stopped.
The giant elephant Bhima, who always attracts people's attention by walking alone, has now been spotted with a female elephant. The incident took place on Sunday morning when he arrived at the doorstep of K.H. Basavaraju's house in Udewara village.
