HUBLI
The villagers of Gudenakatti village in Kundagol taluk performed punyaradhana on the 9th day for the monkeys that died of illness. They showed their love for animals by performing punyaradhana on them, even though they are mute animals, just like humans.
For the past 10-15 days, monkeys in Gudenakatti village had fallen ill. About seven monkeys died, one or two a day. The monkeys that were suffering from the disease were treated by the Kundagol taluk veterinary officer. But even after the treatment, seven monkeys died. Now, the villagers have performed their last rites in front of the village's Maruti temple.
It has been 9 days since the monkeys died. Therefore, all the villagers have gathered together to build a tomb for the monkeys and perform punyaradhana. Seeing these monkeys in the form of gods, all the villagers have gathered together and performed punyaradhana according to the rituals.
Village priest Satish Hiremath performed the Panchamrutha Abhishekam and Punyaradhana program for the Gadduge in the morning. Later, items eaten by monkeys, such as fruits and mangoes, were offered to the Gadduge. Food was offered to the villagers from the surrounding area who had come for the program.
In response to this, priest Satish Hiremath informed, seven monkeys were suffering from illness. The villagers tried hard to save them. But the treatment was unsuccessful and they died. Therefore, a memorial was built for the monkeys and punyaradhana was performed.
