The Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) was launched at Kurubagatti village in Dharwad district with the aim of empowering farmers through scientific and modern agricultural practices. The programme was inaugurated by Professor D.N. Kambrekar, senior scientist and head of ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), in the presence of a large gathering of farmers.

Jointly organised by ICAR-KVK and the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS), the campaign will be implemented in 100 villages across the district. VKSA is a 15-day pre-monsoon nationwide initiative launched by the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare along with ICAR, ahead of the kharif season.

As part of the campaign, agricultural scientists will visit farms to provide guidance on modern techniques, suitable equipment, and localised crop inputs. Prof. Kambrekar explained that VKSA is a platform to bridge the gap between research institutions and grassroots farming communities.

Nationally, the campaign involves 2,000 expert teams including scientists, field officers, and progressive farmers. Each team is expected to conduct three farmer interaction sessions daily, potentially reaching 10 to 12 lakh farmers every day. By the campaign's end, 1 to 1.5 crore farmers across more than 700 districts are expected to benefit.

In Dharwad, two expert teams comprising scientists from KVK, ICAR institutes, and departments of agriculture, horticulture, and veterinary sciences will cover at least six villages and 1,200 farmers daily. Activities include field visits, demonstrations, group discussions, and experience-sharing by successful farmers.
