Vijayendra slams Cong in rally, labels state govt as ‘anti-people’
Udupi
During the BJP’s Janaakrosha Yatra in Udupi on April 10, state BJP president B Y Vijayendra called the Congress-led Karnataka government “a Hitler government” and accused it of being anti-people. Addressing a large crowd, Vijayendra said the coastal region was ignored completely by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. He highlighted that during Yediyurappa’s term, ₹19,500 crore was sanctioned for the area, while under Siddaramaiah, not a single grant has been allocated.
Vijayendra accused the government of corruption, discrimination, and failing Dalits. “They speak of Ambedkar, but have done nothing for Dalits. True empowerment is happening under Narendra Modi,” he said. He also criticized the government for rising prices, ignoring Hindus, and not delivering on promises like irrigation projects and temple funding.
The protest saw similar accusations from other BJP leaders. MLA Sunil Kumar said the Congress had topped the corruption charts and misused funds meant for Dalits. Former minister Sriramulu slammed the government for silencing dissent and alleged scams, including in the Valmiki Corporation.
Opposition leader Chaluvadi Narayan Swami questioned the government’s treatment of Dalits and criticized Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the Constitution, calling them disrespectful to Dr. B R Ambedkar.
The rally, which began at Kalsanka Junction, ended with a protest meeting near the BJP office in Udupi. Over 2,000 people joined the march. BJP president Vijayendra flagged off the protest by riding a bullock cart. Several senior party leaders and elected representatives were present at the event.
