In order to control and eliminate foot and mouth disease which causes economic hardship to farmers, all farmers should compulsorily vaccinate their cattle against this disease every 6 months, as appealed by the Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry Department, Dr. Shivayogi Yali said that there are 5.40 lakh cattle in the district, and 100 percent vaccination will be achieved within 30 days.
In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner and other officials released the poster of the 5th round of free Foot and Mouth Vaccination campaign.
Under the National Cattle Disease Control Programme, the 5th round of vaccinating cattle will be conducted in the district from 1st to 30th April. Deputy Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde instructed the officials to make 100 percent progress by vaccinating all the cattle.
He was presiding over the 5th round of free cervical vaccination programme for cattle, district level stray dog breeding control and the executive committee meeting of the district animal welfare association on Thursday.
Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Snehal Sudhakar Lokhande, ASP Anil Kumar Bhumarddy, District Health Officer Dr. Nataraj, Animal Husbandry Department Polyclinic Deputy Director, Animal Health Officer Dr. Rekha, Dr. Umadevi, Chief Veterinary Officers of all taluks were present in the meeting.
