Union Minister of State for Railways V. Somanna condemned the recent incident in Pahalgam, Kashmir, describing it as a heinous act and stated that the central government is taking necessary actions to address the situation. “After observing the scenario for a few days, more stringent measures will be implemented,” he said.
Speaking to reporters in the city on Thursday, Somanna stated, “In the ten years following the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister has worked towards the region’s development. In such a context, the dishonorable actions of Pakistanis have drawn condemnation from the entire world.”
He added, “The Prime Minister is ensuring that the country’s sovereignty is not compromised. Instead of criticizing, the opposition parties have nothing substantial to speak about him.”
Somanna noted, “Tourism in Kashmir has generated an income of ₹8,000 crore over the past decade. Unable to tolerate this, the people of Pakistan have resorted to such actions. Instead of diverting public attention, we must focus on development. Some people speak just for publicity. Our nation is large, and no one is greater than that.”
On the need for cooperation, he remarked, “If the central and state governments work together as two sides of a coin, we can achieve remarkable progress, as we have demonstrated many times. If Siddaramaiah speaks the truth, we will cooperate; however, he seems reluctant to do so and only makes vague statements.”
