In a surprising incident in Raichur on Thursday   two individuals, Manjunath and Ramesh, were arrested for attempting to pay for their meal at a local biryani hotel with a counterfeit ₹500 note.

The duo dined on chicken biryani and presented a fake note when settling their bill. The hotel owner grew suspicious upon examining the note, which was found to be fake, indicated by the mention of "Children's Bank of India" on it.

After the note was deemed counterfeit, the hotel owner alerted the authorities, leading to the swift intervention of the police. A case has been registered at the Market Yard police station, and both suspects have been remanded to judicial custody.

This incident follows a recent crackdown on counterfeit currency in the district, where four individuals were previously arrested for similar offenses. The police have intensified their efforts to combat the circulation of fake currency and ensure the public's safety from financial fraud.
