The much-anticipated train services from Kushtagi to Hubli will begin on May 10, but poorly designed bridges along the route are causing road traffic problems for locals.

The long-awaited train service between Kushtagi and Hubli, part of the Gadag-Wadi railway line, will commence on May 10, bringing happiness to the residents of Kushtagi, Yelaburga, and Kuknoor taluks. However, the unscientific design of several bridges along the 54 km stretch from Talakall to Kushtagi is causing difficulties for local commuters. Bridges at locations like Itagi, Kuknoor, Dyampur, and Yelaburga, which were poorly constructed, have created road traffic problems for villagers.

The bridges have sharp turns and are frequently filled with water, causing serious travel disruptions, especially during the monsoon. This situation affects around 20 villages, making it impossible for residents to travel on the roads when the water levels rise.

Residents have urged authorities to address the issue by fixing the bridges before the start of the rainy season and the beginning of the train services. Economic Advisor to the Chief Minister, Basavaraj Rayareddy, acknowledged the issue, stating, "It is true that four or five bridges in Yelaburga-Kukanur taluk are standing in water. We have also come to our attention that there are shortcomings in the work. The Railway Department has been instructed to conduct a survey in this regard and rectify the shortcomings as soon as possible." Efforts will be made to ensure smooth traffic flow for locals before the rains and train operations begin.
