A combing operation has been conducted by forest department personnel following the sighting of a tiger near the Ravirameshwara and Mahadeshwara temples in Teranimunti village on the banks of Kabini backwaters in Saraguru taluk.

Sunil, a tractor driver from Teranimunti village in the taluk, was returning home after ploughing his land on Sunday night when he came across a tiger. Sunil immediately captured it on his mobile camera. Sunil later informed the forest department officials.

Based on the information given by the driver Sunil, the staff of N Begur zone of Bandipur forest range, who arrived at the spot, inspected the place and a combing operation was carried out by the staff. Since no footprints of the tiger were found at this time, the forest department staff has said that they will monitor the tiger's movements by patrolling. The villagers have been worried after learning about the tiger's presence and have demanded that the tiger be captured immediately.

Based on information given by the villagers, a combing operation was conducted by the staff on Monday. During this time, no tiger footprints or any traces were found. The combing operation is continuing, and if any hint of a tiger is found, it will be brought to the notice of the higher authorities and further action will be taken, says N Begur Forest Officer Manjunath Bagevadi.
