Three-phase survey planned for SC families

The survey of Scheduled Caste families will be conducted in three phases, door-to-door surveys, special camps, and online self-declaration, said S Yukesh Kumar, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer.
Presiding over a meeting held here on Friday regarding the survey initiated by HN Nagamohan Das Committee on internal reservation within the Scheduled Castes, he said that 101 sub-castes within the Scheduled Castes have been identified. Master trainers have been selected from district level and sent for training at the state level.
Rangegowda, Joint Director of Department of Social Welfare, highlighted that there is diversity among sub-castes in both North and South Karnataka. Hence, the survey aims to gather data for the classification of internal reservations within Scheduled Castes. The survey will collect basic information such as education, occupation, residential area, available facilities, economic details, government and private employment, professions, land ownership, and household income.
He said the survey will be conducted in three phases, the first phase includes door-to-door visits, second involves special camp-based surveys and third is online registration. Teachers will be employed to carry out the survey, and it will be conducted online using a mobile app. Aadhar number, caste certificate number, and mobile number will be mandatory for the survey. Sub-castes such as Adi Karnataka, Adi Dravida, and others must be specified in the data, he added.
The door-to-door survey will be conducted from May 5 to May 17. Special camps will be organized at polling station areas from May 19 to May 21, and online self-declaration will be open from May 19 to May 23. The survey is specifically for Scheduled Caste community. When teachers visit homes for survey, Scheduled Caste members are requested to cooperate and provide necessary information Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer S Yukesh Kumar said.
