Theatre heals and unites humanity: Jayanth Kaikini
Mysuru
Art has the power to reduce the effects of any ailments, and theatre embodies humanity that helps artists achieve greatness, said noted Kannada litterateur Jayanth Kaikini.
Speaking after releasing the souvenir ‘Nirdirganthavagi Yeri’ on the occasion of the organisation’s anniversary here on Sunday, he said that just when people thought the pulse of theatre was fading—despite the contributions of legends like Badal Sarkar and B.V. Karanth—the Nirdirganthavagi Cultural Organisation is giving new responsibilities and meaning to the next generation.
Jayanth observed that both medical science and art serve to alleviate human suffering. Theatre, he said, expands the horizons of life, enhancing intelligence and inclusiveness. It allows individuals to view and reflect on their own lives. He stressed the urgent need to introduce theatre to the younger generation.
Writer K.Y. Narayanaswamy lamented that humanity, once deeply embedded in people's hearts, is slowly diminishing. However, he added, it is heartening to see that this humanity is still alive within the Nirdirganthavagi organisation. He also expressed happiness that actor Prakash Raj has plans to extend the activities of the organisation across the State, rather than confining them to Mysuru alone.
Actor Dolly Dhananjay, Rajashekhar Kadamba, B. Jayashree, APN Properties MD Nagesh, Devanur Mahadev and others were present.
