In response to the terror attack by Pakistan-based terrorists who killed 26 tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian military conducted air strikes targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan, avenging the attack. Currently, Pakistan faces the threat of war. Following the successful completion of ‘Operation Sindoor,’ heightened alertness is being maintained across the country. As a precaution, security measures have been intensified in dams across the nation, including those in the Karnataka region. In Nidagundi Taluk of Vijayapura district, security around the Almatti Dam has been beefed up significantly. The Karnataka State Industrial Security Force (KSISF), which is already overseeing security, has increased precautions further.

All vehicles entering the Almatti Dam premises are now being thoroughly checked. Large goods and trucks are prohibited from entry. Under the leadership of a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), a team of 86 KSISF personnel equipped with modern weapons is providing security. CCTV cameras are monitoring the dam area continuously. Security arrangements are in place 24 hours a day, with three shifts. Additionally, security personnel are conducting inspections via boats across the dam’s water reservoir. Similarly, strict security measures have been imposed at the Hemavati Reservoir in Gorur, Hassan Taluk. The security forces have issued special instructions to monitor the area closely. The KSISF has declared a high alert at Hemavati Reservoir, with a team comprising one PI, one PSI, and four ASI officers, totaling 22 personnel, assigned for security.

Given the possibility of airstrikes or drone attacks, heightened vigilance has been ordered. Authorities have already briefed officers about the steps to be taken during any potential attack, based on intelligence inputs. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah responded from Mandya, stating that all security measures have been heightened across the borders and key installations. He emphasized that precautions are being taken proactively, as there is a possibility of unexpected incidents at any time.
