Teachers shape society: Media Advisor K.V. Prabhakar
Bangalore
Teachers are the social ambassadors who cultivate kindness, harmony, tolerance, morality, wisdom, and a sense of coexistence in children and through children in society. Recognizing and respecting them is the essence of good culture, said K.V. Prabhakar, Media Advisor to the Chief Minister.
He spoke at the Guruvandana program organized by Media Connect and Punya Foundation at Vidyabhavan.
The Guruvandana program itself is a testament to how teachers in Idaguru Government School, Tumkur, have created socially responsible citizens who contribute positively to society. Reflecting on the past 25 years, he said, students nurtured and groomed by teachers have now grown up and are honoring their teachers, demonstrating their cultural values.
The Chief Minister has often stated that farmers, teachers, and soldiers are the soldiers of a healthy and peaceful society. This is literally true. It reminds me of a story about the notorious Hitler.
When Hitler was conquering territories during wartime, he would first instruct his army to arrest teachers in those regions. Because teachers influence children and society rapidly, shaping opinions and movements—both knowledge and fear about their influence troubled Hitler.
Even during India’s independence movement, Mahatma Gandhi’s ideas first influenced school teachers and students who actively participated in the freedom struggle. Here’s another example:
Socialist activist Shantaveri Gopalagowda would visit schools to share his thoughts and struggles with teachers and children before addressing the public. Teachers and students would then relay these messages to parents.
