Support for Janaakrosha Yatra shows public anger against govt
Bengaluru
Leader of the Opposition, R. Ashok, has said the growing support for the Janaakrosha Yatra clearly reflects the people’s anger and loss of faith in the Siddaramaiah-led government. He alleged that the administration has collapsed and corruption has reached its peak under this government.
Referring to comments from within the ruling party, Ashok said, “The certificate given by the CM’s economic advisor Basavaraj Rayareddy that Karnataka is number one in corruption, and Minister D. Sudhakar’s remark that the government is taking off after 20 months, clearly show the government’s true face.”
He added that the overwhelming public response in different districts to the Yatra is a strong indication of rising dissatisfaction.
Ashok reiterated that the government is full of deceit and is delivering poor governance. He blamed unplanned implementation of guarantee schemes for draining the treasury, saying no real development is happening.
According to him, ministers are avoiding public interactions due to fear of backlash. Meanwhile, bribery and price hikes are affecting people everywhere. “Even Congress workers are speaking out. You can’t keep lying forever,” he said, pointing out how Rayareddy and Sudhakar’s statements expose the truth.
He also claimed that ministers are ignoring the CM’s instructions and not holding Janata Darshans. “Even officers don’t attend work regularly. There’s no direction, and only internal power struggles are going on,” he said.
On the Wayanad issue, he questioned the government's decision to permit Malayalam film shooting in a protected tiger reserve, suggesting outside influence. “Who gave the nod? Is Wayanad directing us again?” he asked.
