“The government has implemented many schemes for the economic empowerment of women and for their welfare. The department officials should work hard for their implementation,” said Karnataka State Women Development Corporation Chairperson G Padmavati. She was speaking while inaugurating a progress review meeting of various schemes of the State Women Development Corporation on Monday at the Health and Family Welfare Department auditorium of the city's District Administration Building.
The Corporation President, Mrs. G. Padmavati, directed that there should be no unnecessary delay in providing Aadhaar cards to the gender minorities. Proper utilization of the funds released by the Women Development Corporation is of utmost importance. Steps should be taken to bring the gender minorities in the district into the mainstream of society by providing them with BPL cards and free bus travel facilities. The micro-loan and direct loan schemes are now being restarted and their benefits should be made available to those eligible within the stipulated time.
Deputy Director of Women and Child Development Department, Padmavati said that there are a total of 2970 oppressed women in the district. From 2015-16 to 2024-2025, 185 women have received the Chetana scheme. There are 2970 HIV-infected women in the district, out of which 174 people have received the Dhanashree scheme. Out of 825 gender minorities, 155 gender minorities have received the Gender Minority Rehabilitation Scheme. From 2018-19 to 2024-2025, 194 women have received the facility under the Yekujini scheme. At present, 73 gender minorities have been issued identity cards, she explained to the meeting.
District Representative Officer of the Women and Child Development Department Radha Mannur, General Manager of Women Development Corporation Akkamahadevi, President of the District Stree Shakti Union Pushpa, Child Development Scheme Officers of all taluks, and others were present.
