Emphasizing the need to prioritize quality education, Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu announced measures to reduce the extracurricular burden on government school teachers. She highlighted the challenges teachers face in distributing eggs and bananas to students and said a proposal will be submitted to the government to address this issue.

Speaking at a meeting on Tuesday at the District Collector’s office, Prabhu discussed the “Mission Vidyakashi” project aimed at improving educational quality and resolving teacher-related problems. She noted that last year’s performance under the scheme was below expectations, attributing this to ineffective basic education at the primary and secondary levels.

She instructed the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) to arrange for eggs and bananas to be distributed through the agency providing hot meals or propose appointing a new agency to ease teachers’ workload.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Bhuvanesh Patil said he will personally inspect schools to review infrastructure, academic standards, and attendance. He emphasized giving priority to curriculum and teaching, aiming to achieve targets this year.

Officials from Backward Classes Welfare, Social Welfare, Minority Welfare, and District Waqf departments also participated in the meeting to collaborate on improving school education and student welfare.

Arrangements will be made to record children’s attendance, egg, and milk distribution in a single app. Plans include temporarily deploying technical staff at the cluster level to assist teachers with online and technical tasks, easing their workload and improving data management efficiency.
