Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G Parameshwar has appealed to political leaders and the public not to politicise the tragic Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 innocent tourists were killed by militants. He urged everyone to support the union government in whatever steps it takes to punish those responsible.

“This attack has shocked the entire country. Instead of debating security lapses, we must look ahead and focus on what needs to be done to prevent such incidents in the future,” said Dr. Parameshwar while speaking to reporters in Mysuru on Thursday.

He pointed out that the attack indicates a failure in intelligence gathering. “It’s hard to believe that heavily armed terrorists could cross the border and reach a well-known tourist destination without any prior alerts. The central government has ordered a detailed inquiry which will shed more light on the situation,” he added. He described the assault on innocent, unarmed tourists as “highly condemnable.”

In Karnataka, he said, a high alert has already been issued following the Pulwama incident. Law and order discussions have been held with the DG&IGP to ensure safety across the state.

Regarding the Cabinet meeting at Male Mahadeshwara Hills, Dr. Parameshwar clarified that it is not unusual. “While most cabinet meetings happen in Bengaluru, special meetings are held in districts to address local issues. Today’s meeting will focus on matters related to Chamarajanagar district,” he explained.

The Home Minister's statements underline the importance of unity and preparedness in the face of terror threats.
