Speed Up Flyover Work, Ensure Scheme Implementation: Union Minister Joshi
HUBBALLI:
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi has directed officials to expedite the ongoing flyover construction in the city center, citing worsening traffic congestion and public inconvenience. Speaking at a progress review meeting, Joshi stressed the need to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe as per flyover committee guidelines and reopen the closed road to traffic. “Work day and night if required, but finish the project on time,” he instructed.
Joshi also raised serious concerns about the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana. “Applications of eligible beneficiaries who have undergone skill training under the scheme are being rejected without valid reasons,” he said, urging officials to handle the process with greater responsibility.
Addressing bank officials present at the meeting, Joshi said that banks must provide timely financial support under the PM Vishwakarma scheme. “All recommended applications should be processed on a priority basis,” he emphasized.
He further warned against banks charging excessive stamp duty while sanctioning loans to beneficiaries. “We have received written complaints about banks demanding more than the prescribed amount. The District Collector should investigate and take action,” Joshi added.
The meeting was attended by MLA Arvind Bellada, Deputy Mayor Santosh Chavan, District Collector Divya Prabhu, Zilla Panchayat CEO Bhuvanesh Patil, and senior officials from the National Highways Authority, Municipal Corporation, Public Works Department, and Lead Bank.
