In Dakshina Kannada district, heavy rains have caused landslides in several parts of Ullal taluk, prompting Speaker UT Khader to instruct the District Magistrates to take urgent precautionary and rescue measures. The district has been experiencing intense rainfall, leading to landslides in Belma and Manjanadi villages, resulting in loss of life. Additionally, low-lying areas within Ullal Municipal Corporation—such as Ullal Bailu, Akkarekere, Millat Nagar, Chila, Alekala, Sundaribag, Kumpala, Kanir Thota, and Uchhila—have faced artificial flooding, causing water to enter homes and damage property.

UT Khader has been in touch with the Deputy Commissioner, urging the preparation of rescue teams including the NDRF for immediate response. The District In-charge Minister has also discussed the situation with the Revenue Minister and the Chief Minister, who has directed compensation for the families of the deceased and appointed a special officer to monitor the crisis.

UT Khader remains in constant contact with local Gram Panchayats and officials, gathering updates and coordinating rescue efforts. He has provided his phone number for public assistance if needed.

Tragically, the rear wall of Naushad’s house in Kanakare collapsed, killing his 10-year-old daughter Fatima Naeema. Five others remain trapped after a hill collapse near Monte Pada in Manjanadi; Prema Pujari died in this incident. Rescue operations are ongoing with officials stationed onsite.

The Speaker has urged local representatives and officials to stay connected with the community and offer full cooperation during this emergency.
