Speaker reviews book fair preparations at Vidhana Soudha

For the first time, the Legislative Assembly Secretariat is organizing a book fair on the Vidhan Soudha premises from February 27 to March 3.

Assembly Speaker UT Khader  on Wednesday reviewed the preparations for the book fair organized on the Vidhana Soudha premises.

On this occasion, Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Shivalingappa Horatti, Legislative Assembly Secretary MK Vishalakshi and others were present. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the book fair on Thursday.

Ministers and writers will participate in this programme. Cultural programmes will be held on February 28 and March 2 after 5 pm. On March 2, a musical evening has been organized by famous singer Sadhukokila. 

From February 28 to March 2, dialogue programmes on various topics, poetry gatherings, and book release programmes will be held on two platforms every day in the Vidhana Soudha premises. Students from Government First Grade College and Bangalore University will participate in these dialogue programmes.

In addition, the release of books by various authors will also be allowed. All programs held from February 28 to March 2 will be open to the public.

Under the MLAs' Local Area Development Scheme, MLAs have been allowed to purchase books within the limit of Rs. 2 lakh in the current year's grant and give them to government schools and colleges in their respective constituencies. Only 150 shops are allowed to open, while shops of various academies and private shops have been allowed to open.
