Speaker UT Khader has urged the Deputy Commissioner to convene a coordination committee meeting to address the ongoing sand availability issue in the district. He stressed the need to ensure sand at an affordable price to facilitate development projects and construction of houses.

Khader called for the legalisation of sand extraction in CRZ areas by central government. He told media persons, as a District Minister, I introduced the Sand Bazaar app. The district administration should reintroduce it to ensure the smooth availability of sand for the public.

On several key infrastructure projects in the Mangalore constituency, he said the soil testing is underway at sites proposed for bridges from Kotepura to Bolar and Sajipa to Thumbe. The project has already received cabinet approval. The proposal for a hanging bridge between Adyar and Uliya, estimated at Rs 12 crore, is in its final stages. The tender process for a new fire station in Ullal is near completion. Land has been identified for the construction of a Taluk Soudha in Ullal taluk. A Beary Bhavana will be built at Thiplepadavu at a cost of Rs 6 crore.

Following concerns over the stray dog menace in the Vidhana Soudha premises, Khader said the public works department (PWD) has initiated the tender process for constructing a dedicated shelter for stray dogs. Currently, 52 stray dogs reside on the premises, and an agency will be engaged to manage their care. The increasing number of stray dogs reportedly caused inconvenience to visitors at Vidhana Soudha.

Addressing the recent language dispute in Belagavi, Khader said all languages should serve as a unifying force for the country. He dismissed concerns about escalating tensions, stating that the issue would be resolved and reaffirming that Belagavi remains an integral part of Karnataka.
