A six-day skill training programme on aquarium making, maintenance, ornamental fish production, and rearing is progress at the Fisheries Skill Development and Safety Training Centre in Hoige Bazaar. K Ganesh, Managing Director, Karnataka Fisheries Development Corporation (KFDC), said that the training, sponsored by Mangaluru Smart City Limited (MSCL), is being offered free of cost to 30 participants per batch. He encouraged the youth to take advantage of the free training, and assured continued support from the corporation for such initiatives. The programme is set to run for six days, with each batch consisting of 30 participants receiving free skill development training

Ganesh urged young men and women to take advantage of such free training programmes to become entrepreneurial. He also mentioned that the corporation will continue to support such skill-based training programmes in the future. KE Jayaram, Zilla Panchayat Planning Director, spoke about the benefits of having aquariums at home, suggesting that they can help alleviate natural mental ailments in humans. He expressed that such training programmes provide today's youth with an opportunity to contribute to the nation's growth.  HN Anjaneyappa, Dean of the Fisheries College, said that the centre is beneficial for unemployed youth, young entrepreneurs, extension workers, self-employed aspirants, fishermen, and farmers. He stated that participants will be introduced to self-employment and income-generating activities. The centre provides guidance on accessing various schemes to help start or expand their own businesses, along with technical skills.
