The Vanadurga Vriksha Shanti Mahayaga and Sahasra Chandi Yaga organized for the welfare of the world at Avadhoota Datta Peetham, Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama in Mysuru, concluded successfully on Sunday.

Under the divine guidance of Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, this grand spiritual initiative was undertaken in adherence to Sanatana Vedic traditions with the intention of preserving environmental balance.

Commencing on June 6, the Sahasra Chandi Yaga was initiated by Sri Swamiji with the resolve of ensuring global protection, prosperity, and harmony — praying for peace to prevail across the world.

A special highlight is that this is considered the first-ever such grand yagna (ritual) conducted anywhere in the world. Recent global incidents of conflict, war, loss, and suffering deeply saddened Sri Swamiji, prompting him to organize this unique ritual for universal peace.

From June 6 to June 15, the Yaga was carried out without any interruptions or errors, symbolizing devotion and precision in every step.

Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji, the junior pontiff, stood as a strong pillar of support to Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, helping perform all the religious rituals.

With a focus on counteracting natural disasters and addressing environmental imbalance, Swamiji also organized the Vriksha Shanti Mahayaga (Tree Peace Yagna). As a symbolic offering to environmental harmony, Sri Swamiji consecrated and worshipped over 8,000 sacred bonsai trees.

Avadhoota Datta Peetham has now earned global recognition for having the world’s largest collection of bonsai trees, a feat that has secured a Guinness World Record.

This morning, Sri Swamiji and Sri Datta Vijayananda Teertha Swamiji performed the concluding rituals of the Sahasra Chandi Yaga. The final offerings (poornahuti) were completed at the specially constructed eleven sacred fire altars (homa kundas) within the ashram premises. The main poornahuti was performed at the central altar, marking the successful completion of the Yaga.

Following this, the deity was taken in a grand ceremonial procession to the Sapta Rishi Sarovara, where the concluding Avabhruta Snana (ritual bath) was conducted, formally bringing the Yaga to an end.

During the event, hundreds of devotees recited the Lalitha Sahasranama and Soundarya Lahari. In the evening, the Vanadurga Chariot Festival (Rathotsava) was celebrated with grandeur within the ashram premises.

Thousands of devotees from across various states of India and from foreign countries participated in this unique spiritual event, witnessing the world’s first Sahasra Chandi Yaga and Vriksha Shanti Mahayaga, and were spiritually uplifted by the divine experience.
